OUR STorY
“Where your Body, Mind, and Spirit Moves”
BambooMoves Yoga first opened in Forest Hills, NY in 2007, and soon grew into a collective of studios across New York and New Jersey. Monica (Ott) Pandoursky became a lifelong student of yoga after meeting her teachers, Scott Kleinfeld and Stephanie Kopyar, at BambooMoves in Englewood, NJ. At the time, she was pursuing a career in music—but yoga called to her in a deep and meaningful way, ultimately reshaping the direction of her life. She stepped into the role of manager at the Englewood studio, helped refine the brand, and went on to complete the BambooMoves 200-Hour Teacher Training. Monica also wove music into her yoga, creating a unique live music and yoga experience. Each week, she sang mantras, original songs, and covers while students moved through their asana practice, an offering that became her signature class. In 2013, inspired by a desire to be closer to family, Monica founded BambooMoves Yoga Baltimore in Locust Point. Her intention was to create a community that could experience the same transformative power of yoga that had so deeply impacted her own life.
Rooted in a rich spiritual lineage, yoga continues to offer a path of healing, connection, and unity—a reminder that we are all one. You can hear Monica perform live every other Wednesday at 6pm during the Live Music All Levels class.
BambooMoves Yoga hosts annual 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified Teacher Trainings, workshops, and retreats. Throughout the centuries, Bamboo has been a valued life source and artistic inspiration to people all over the world. Bamboo has been used for food, medicine, clothing, building material, weaponry, furniture, utensils, and much more. Bamboo has a tall and hollow stem with luxuriant foliage, creating a look of grace and purity. Despite this, it can grow on infertile land and tolerate all types of weather. Standing ever strong and quickly regenerating despite challenging environments, bamboo has become a symbol of beauty and integrity.
